- Negotiations are over, and the Delaware River will now indeed be dredged and the channel deepened, which means the Delaware River Port Authority board can finally meet again after 17 months (Rendell had refused to call a meeting of the board until the dispute was settled).
- Philadelphia corrections officer Christopher Davidson has been arrested after going on a crazy rampage on an ATV in East Germantown on Tuesday evening. He drove all over a playing field, as well as nearby sidewalks and streets, nearly crashing into numerous vehicles and nearly running over numerous people. The ATV finally stopped after slamming into a police wagon and flipping several times, but that wasn't the end of the chase; police had to continue chasing Davidson on foot before finally wrestling a handgun away from him and taking him into custody. The article doesn't mention it, but... we're betting he was on something.
- In other weird crime news, a woman in West Oak Lane "has been charged with falsely reporting that her 9-year-old son was in her car when it was stolen from her street." She knew the kid was actually safely at a relative's home at the time, according to cops, but due to her report police started a major search and nearly issued an Amber Alert.
- The latest on the planned attack on Fort Dix is that the suspects were trying to recruit others, and were also considering the use of various explosives. Meanwhile, in the week since the arrests, calls to NJ's counterterrorism tip line more than doubled.
- More on the results of the May 15 primary: although Nutter knows he's not mayor yet, he does already want Street and the City Council members to know where he stands on the big issues. Meanwhile, other things were decided besides the Democratic candidate for mayor; for instance, the great majority of PA voters said no to a new income tax that would have replaced a portion of their school property taxes. Rendell wants to increase the sales tax, but others say what's needed is to simply keep spending down.
- Researchers at Penn may have found a way to grow new hair, a process which might also help in healing burns and other wounds.
