
- Five people in Cherry Hill and one in Pennsylvania, who are being described now as "Islamic radicals," were arrested last night for an alleged plot to attack Fort Dix, and a public information officer at Fort Dix says it wasn't the only base targeted; there was actually a plan to attack several bases in the Northeast. "Five of the men are expected to be arraigned in federal court in Camden today. The other one is expected to appear in Philadelphia or Allentown."
- That fire we mentioned yesterday that destroyed four rowhouses in West Philly was started by an arsonist when he/she took clothing and other items belonging to people who were recently evicted from one of the homes and set them on fire on the porch. No arrests have been made as of this writing.
- The latest in the saga of Milton: a recent accounting by the city Revenue Department reveals that he owes the city $392,573 in delinquent business taxes. Officials say they sent him a bill back in January, but Street says he never got such a bill.
- Although the previous televised debate was supposedly boring and uneventful, the final televised mayoral debate was anything but, as the candidates fought bitterly and traded insults. Yay!
- Robert Massaroni, a champion martial artist and teacher in the area, collapsed and died moments after finishing the 10-mile Broad Street Run on Sunday. No cause of death has been released as of yet, but as the Inquirer points out, "Sudden death among young, competitive athletes is rare, but not as singular as it may seem."
- The attorney for a suspect named Kyle Byrd has sent a surveillance video tape (recorded very early in the morning on March 31 in the 1900 block of Judson Street in North Philadelphia) to the Inquirer which shows police violently beating Byrd for more than eight minutes. Excessive force? The Inquirer certainly sounds convinced.
