The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

  • Verbotomy is a sort of comic/blog/web-word game. Every week day, they put up a comic and a definition, and challenge you to come up with a word to match the definition. Cool idea. If you're feeling creative, hop on over and see what you can come up with. (Via)
  • Check out this rather strange game which is on one level a very basic and simple platformer, but on another level is an odd piece of interactive art about religion, politics, economics, philosophy, and society. It's kind of hypnotic... (Via)
  • Peter Jackson's film adaptation of popular novel The Lovely Bones (about a woman who observes her family and her killer from the afterlife) started a little bidding war amongst some of the major studios, but the winner has been decided now, and it's DreamWorks.
  • D'oh. Spider-Man 3 has now handily reaffirmed the studios' belief that corny sequels with mammoth production budgets are totally worth it, having busted all kinds of box office records and so far taken in a worldwide total of $375 million. So obviously we can definitely expect a Spider-Man 4 now, and rumors are already coming out about who the villains will be in that film: The Lizard and Carnage. Meanwhile, if Spidey 3 wasn't your cup of tea, and/or you don't mind spoilers, you can check out Cinematical's list of Seven Ways They Could Have Made Spider-Man 3 Better. A quick scan of the list gives us the feeling that Cinematical kind of missed the point of what Spider-Man is all about, but we haven't seen the movie yet, so we'll withhold judgement.
  • It's official! Lost has an expiration date, and it is 2010. Interestingly enough, it was the producers of the show who asked ABC if they could do this, not the other way around. There will be 48 additional episodes produced, organized into three shortened 16-episode seasons, with the final episode, number 119, airing during the 2009-2010 season. Here's hoping they somehow pull it all together in a satisfying way...
  • It turns out Antonio Banderas has not been asked to take part in any Sin City sequels - but he totally would if asked. In fact, Banderas says, "I would follow Robert Rodriguez into hell if he asked me to do it."
  • The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets (everybody's favorite Canadian all-Lovecraftian rock band) is looking for a few good marine biologists to star in a music video. If you are such a person, by all means, apply! If you aren't, follow the link anyway, because you can download the song "A Marine Biologist" there.
  • It sounded so shameful that we couldn't even watch it, but if you can stand it, you can supposedly find a NSFW video here of a drunk Bruce Willis at a Nets/Raptors game claiming that Die Hard 4 is better than the original Die Hard. In an interview where he was apparently less drunk, Willis backtracked on some earlier comments he'd made about the Die Hard films, but did confirm that number four will be rated PG-13.

  • George Lucas himself says Indy's dad is in the script for Indy 4, but if Sean Connery won't play him, they're going to write him out. We're kind of surprised Lucas wouldn't be up for just getting another actor and then using a computer to put Connery's face on him. But whatever.
  • Eli Roth wants to expand his fake Grindhouse trailer, Thanksgiving, into a full movie, and have Edgar Wright expand his trailer for Don't, as well, so they can put them on a double bill and make Grindhouse 2. He says Dimension is still figuring out what they're doing with the first Grindhouse, though, so who knows if this will ever happen. We're rooting for it, though!
  • Speaking of Grindhouse, check out how Something Awful's contributors Photoshopped posters of mainstream movies into grindhouse-style versions. (Via)
  • Nintendo has put up a website where you can now see 30-second clips of all games available for purchase for the Wii's Virtual Console. Good idea, Nintendo! Although, of course, short playable demos would be even better... (Via)
  • Witness the sad end of Mario. Heh. (Via)
  • GameTrailers has for you the Top Ten Worst Consoles! Yay!
  • John Malkovich might star in the Coen brothers' upcoming dark screwball comedy, Burn After Reading. Dark screwball comedy?! Ah, only the Coen brothers. Anyways, there's also a little more info about this movie than we remember reading before: "Malkovich would play Ozzie Cox, a former CIA agent who loses the disc of the memoir he is writing. McDormand will play Cox's philandering wife. Clooney is set to play an assassin." Brad Pitt is also in the film, but no word yet on what character he'll be playing. All we know is, we're definitely seeing this movie.
  • It's that time of the year again, folks! Time for Dracula Blogged to start out on its noble quest once more. Yay!
