Despite recent accidental retirement rumors, Brit pop artist Patrick Wolf is very much still making music and very much opening for Amy Winehouse at the Electric Factory tonight.
By the time he turned fourteen, Wolf had already begun to pursue music so feverishly that independent record label, Fat Cat Records, gave him equipment to hone his recording skills. Within two years, Wolf left home and began supporting himself through his musical endeavors. Over the years, he has gained experience creating both electronica and more traditionally influenced music (shortly after leaving home, he supported himself by playing in a string quartet), and all of these influences can be heard in his music today.
Wolf, now twenty-three, has been praised for both his "lush tapestry of sound," made up of his "trademark violin and baritone ukulele joined by an electronic carpet of beats and bleeps," and his skillful ways with lyrics. He's released four albums to date, and is currently touring to promote his most recent album, The Magic Position.
