When this Phillyist was a teenager, she was definitely doing a lot of theatre. Not to brag or anything, but in the Coronado High School (go T-Birds!) theatre program, she was actually kind of a big deal. But now she feels like she was actually a total slacker, because she just heard about this program happening at the Prince Music Theater tonight called the Rainbow Connection Festival, an evening of plays not only performed by teenagers but also written by them. (This Phillyist definitely didn't write the plays she was acting in, that's for sure!)
Three one-act musicals written and performed by students ("Poppin’ in America" by Dimner Beeber Middle School, "Wish It Was a Dream" by Bache Martin School, and "Dreams of War" by Penn Treaty Middle School) will be performed prior to tonight's presentation of the AMMY Awards to these very creative teens. Kinda makes us wish that we were teenagers again. (Well, no, not really. Just makes us wish that they gave opportunities like this to twentysomethings.)
