Staged Readings Are Fun!

EmptyStage.jpgWe don't ever include staged readings in the Wednesday theatre listings, but it's not because we don't like them. And that's why we've introduced "Staged Readings Are Fun!," a periodic feature that will enable us to tell you about said events when they come up. If you know about any staged readings you'd like us to mention, all you have to do is shoot us an email.

What are you doing this afternoon? Working, you say? Why would you want to go and do a thing like that when you could take off early and go catch a reading of Roy Smiles' Ying Tong: A Walk with the Goons at the Wilma? According to the last-minute email we received: "The play is a hilarious and inventive look at the Goon Show, a radio program that changed the nature of comedy, and its creators, Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe, and Wallace Greenslade. The roles will be read by Chris Faith and The Life of Galileo cast members Scott Greer, Scott Barrow, and Ross Manson." Anything that has to do with Peter Sellers sounds absolutely great to us, so you'd best believe that the reading appeals to the Phillyist staff.

"Why the last-minute reading?" you might ask. Well, the Wilma is trying to finalize their 2007-2008 season, and they've still got a slot to fill. Your input as an audience member at today's reading could directly impact what you see onstage next season!
