- Things have become more violent in Philly, and could get even worse, possibly due in part to the warmer weather. We're still not sure this necessitates such a ridiculous, sensationalistic headline as COPS FEAR MURDER FEVER. But that's the Daily News for you...
- It's Rendell and the environment! He's championing the environment by sending a strongly worded letter to the EPA, criticizing their choice to allow two Montgomery County manufacturing firms exemptions to reducing their emissions. And some say he's going against the environment by championing the Delaware River dredging project, a project over which there's currently a standoff between PA and NJ. Rendell is refusing to call a board meeting of the DRPA until the dredging is agreed to, which means no money can be spent and no projects can continue.
- Some mayor's race updates: first of all, here come the attack ads! Secondly, the Inquirer takes a look at Dwight Evans' plans to revitalize the city, which involve anchors, or something. And finally, it's looking like the race might get another candidate: Sam Katz is making moves that suggest he might run as an independent.
- Two prominent lawyers were run over by an SUV on Locust Street between 15th and 16th Street yesterday. The driver, who had mistaken the gas for the brake, ran from the scene, but was picked up by police a few blocks away. One of the lawyers was pinned beneath the car until witnesses helped lift it off him. He's in critical condition and remains in the hospital; the other is in stable condition.
- We take back our "screw you" of yesterday, since Mayor Ray Nagin has officially apologized for his comments about Philadelphia.
- Governor Corzine is continuing his recovery; his condition is now stable, and he's been moved out of intensive care.
