Foodsday Tuesday: We Like TV

kaga_takeshi_e.jpgWe'll be the first to admit that we're a little addicted to watching the Food Network. It's not that we have it on all the time. It's just that once it's on, hours and hours will go by before we can even think about turning the television off. (It's probably more like televised pot, than televised crack, in that regard.) Hell, we even kind of like Rachel Ray. (Sure, she can be annoyingly chipper, and comes up with some pretty ridiculous nicknames for some basic ingredients, but who else can teach us how to spend a day in Denver and only spend forty bucks? Or how to put together a dinner party in half an hour?) We happily sit through marathons of both Iron Chef and Iron Chef America (we vastly prefer the original, but we'll totally watch the American version). And Unwrapped won us over as soon as we saw who the host is.

But what we want to know is what shows you like to watch when you're tuned to the Food Network. Do you like to barbecue with Bobby Flay? Count calories with a commando? Do you have a total crush on Nigella Lawson? Are you like a friend of ours and totally crushing on a certain Naked Chef? Leave us a comment and let us know!

I spent many bleary-eyed hours glued to the food channel. I even thought, although briefly, that i could cook. I have considerably pared down my viewing habits. I do like Gia DeLaurentis & Alton Brown. I am so over Emeril.

ms. ray doesn't tip. fuck her.

I have to second the love for Giada De Laurentiis. Also, Anthony Bourdain, who used to do A Cook's Tour for Food Network and now does No Reservations for Travel Channel. Gotta love it.

(And how 'bout some Phillyist love for the resident Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto?)

Alton Brown!! I'm admittedly a big nerd, so I like learning why stuff works the way it does, along with my learning how to cook stuff.

I'm also beginning to like Good Deal with Dave Lieberman, because he's just so adorable.

Sarah and I watch far too much Food Network ourselves, so I'm going to go ahead and weigh in on this, in far too much detail.

Far and away my favorite person on there is Alton Brown, because he's always entertaining and informative, and because he did that episode that was a total homage to Jaws. Nigella Lawson is ridiculously hot. Giada's shows are okay, but kind of dull. Dave Lieberman is fun. I used to be a huge fan of the original Iron Chef, but I haven't watched in a long time. I've never really liked Emeril; he's so very strange, and kind of fake. Plus, his live show, where people clap and hoot insanely just because he added some garlic, really bugs me. Bobby Flay is just an asshole, and I hate that guy who used to host Secret Life Of... I hope they replaced him because everybody else hated him, too. Mario Batali and Paula Deen are fun, however.

And yeah, what is with Rachael Ray not tipping?

I'm a huge fan of The Barefoot Contessa and Alton Brown. Bobby Flay comes across as such a competitive egotistical ass, he almost ruins the enjoyment of Iron Chef.

I love Good Eats and Ace of Cakes. Duff is the cake-king of the East coast! :)
