We know, it's snowing (or something like it) and yes it's still April, but we have a great band for you to go see tonight. Some of you won't want to venture out tonight, but we definitely think it will be worth it. Screw the snow/slush/rain and come out tonight to see the Headlights perform in the middle of two other bands, Page France and The Trolleyvox. All three bands are a mix of infallible indie-rock, pop, and folk music. What more could we ask for?
Kill Them With Kindness, Headlights' first full album, incorporates keyboards, guitars, vocals, programming and drums with huge success. NPR calls it, "...chiming hooks atop deeply conflicted odes to relationships gone sour," and goes on to say, "Headlights conjures minor-key melancholy on its path to pop bliss." There are very few bands that land in my "Top 25 Most Played" playlist on my iPod and Headlights has become one of them.
For the last two years, Headlights have been touring furiously, but stopped to take a break and put the final touches on their CD at their dilapidated farmhouse between a cornfield and a soybean field outside Champaign, Illinois. If you are a fan of Postal Service, Stars, and Death Cab for Cutie, then you will dig this. Join us tonight, despite the weather, at Johnny Brenda's for a night of "pop-bliss" you won't soon forget.
