Albert Hammond Jr., guitarist for the indie-rock group The Strokes, just released his solo album, Yours to Keep, last month. Tonight, he'll be singing along with his band (Marc Philippe Eskenazi - guitar / keyboards, Steve Schiltz - guitar and Todd Dahlhoff - bass) at the Theatre of the Living Arts starting at 7PM.
New Musical Express (NME), a huge music magazine in the U.K., equates Hammond's new CD to "an intimate, frequently beautiful and consistently surprising record that gets better with every listen." I would have to agree. The first time I heard "Back to the 101," I thought it was a good, consistent rock song. With every repeated listen the song gets better and better. It is now one of the most played songs on my iPod.
Of course you can always stalk his MySpace page to listen to four of his new tracks, or watch his new video here. And if you can't make it to the concert tonight and still want to see him live, you can watch him making his national television debut on April 6th performing on the Conan O'Brien show on NBC. I prefer the real thing.

Albert Hammond Jr. plays guitar in the strokes, never once has his voice appeared on an album.
Albert Hammond Jr. just plays guitar in the strokes, and come to think of it, his voice has never appeared on an album of theirs. I agree his solo stuff is great and should be listened to by all.
