Yo, Philly in the News

• This story about a popular barber shop owner being shot and killed Tuesday morning is just one example of many articles about recent violent deaths. We're too depressed to link to them all.
• Some are trying to pass laws to ban casinos in Philly, but there could already be a law on the books that would prohibit the building of at least one of the casinos: the planned SugarHouse Casino at Frankford and Delaware Avenue. It's a zoning law originally designed to restrict nightclubs.
• Mayoral candidates aren't the only ones getting their ballot spots challenged for not disclosing all their income sources; a PA Supreme Court candidate is in trouble, too.
• Fattah is still refusing to show his tax return, but apparently it's not really because of anything in Renee's contract.
• A Philly police officer was arrested yesterday on charges of statutory rape. He had allegedly been having sexual relations with a teenage girl for a year and a half.
• Milton went to court for his Jersey traffic violations, quietly and meekly agreed to pay his fine, and then went on his way. Huh. Well, that's almost disappointing.
