Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

  • The cover art for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows can be seen here (although, word of warning: we had a hard time viewing it in IE7). It's creepy and cool!
  • We weren't a big fan of the most recent entry, but some part of us still loves the Re-Animator movie series, and the concept we'd heard for the upcoming sequel sounded pretty great. Now it sounds like it might end up as an episode of Showtime's Masters of Horror series instead of its own standalone movie.
  • Yes! It's new bunnies movie day! This time they've crushed Spider-Man 1 and 2 down into one 30-second segment. Genius! The best part, of course, is the Stan Lee cameo at the end. (Via)
  • Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz guy Edgar Wright made one of the fake trailers for Grindhouse, and early word is it's the best one. Like we needed another reason to see this movie... And while we're linking Cinematical talking about grindhouse movies, check out their columnist Matt Bradshaw's list of his seven favorite grindhouse movies.
  • There could be a new Teen Wolf on its way featuring a female werewolf, and Tom Welling of Smallville as... some other character in the movie.
  • They're already planning a Sin City 3 (based mostly on the story entitled Hell and Back), and Rodriguez wants Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas in the movies, with Depp probably showing up in 3 and Banderas showing up wherever they can fit him in, as Banderas, Miller, and Rodriguez all want to get him involved somehow. Dude, awesome. (Via)
  • We weren't too hot on the early footage we saw of 28 Weeks Later a while back, but this new full-length trailer is pretty awesome. Sure, essentially it's just another zombie outbreak in a city, but this time we get to see it from the beginning, and the military's response to it. Could be good!
  • We've got some Transformers news/items for you. First off, awesome character actor Keith David will be providing his incredible voice for the role of Decepticon Barricade in the film. Secondly, check out these hot new posters. Nice.

More after the jump...

  • Bond 22 will be based on four Ian Fleming stories (The Hildebrand Rarity, The Property of a Lady, Risico, and 007 In New York), and may feature a kickboxing Bond babe. Nice.
  • Making a video game of 300 is an obvious idea; they'll essentially be printing money (as long as they don't do something stupid like letting Sony market the thing). And who knows, it might actually be good!
  • Apparently he's said similar things before, but David Duchovny is going about claiming that negotiations on a second X-Files movie are almost done and production could start in 2008 or sooner. The first movie wasn't so hot, and the series really got crappy as it went on, but we still remember it as a whole quite fondly, and would definitely look forward to another movie, so here's hoping David's not just blowing hot air here.
  • An early review of an unfinished preview of the Simpsons movie is... generally positive! And since everything on the internet is true, this means it's a good movie! Woo hoo!
  • The dude at Time's Nerd World has put together his All-Time Top 10 Nerd Songs. Some good, obvious choices, some other not-so-obvious choices.
  • Man. We're still trying to get used to the fact that Sega is making games for Nintendo platforms, and now the once bloodthirsty rivals are putting their mascots together in one game. We never thought we'd see that. Our still-stuck-in-the-'80s mind is whirling here. Anyway, the game is called Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and it'll be coming out for Wii and Nintendo DS by the holidays.
  • Take this one with a grain of salt, as we all know the conflicting stories about this movie's casting lately, but supposedly Ray Winstone is going to play Jones' sidekick in Indy 4. However, this story also mentions that Cate Blanchett is in the movie, a bit of info which we thought had been officially declared a debunked rumor. So basically we have no idea what's going on.
  • Yahoo Mail is going to celebrate its 10 year anniversary by offering users unlimited email storage. Wha?! We predict they will regret that. In fact, we bet some poor sys admin is already pulling his hair out in anticipation right now. Still, it certainly sounds tempting... although not tempting enough for us to give up our beloved Gmail.
