
- When you look at the averages and statistics, this past winter was a pretty normal one, a fact which outrages the Inquirer. Also, it turns out people know crap about the weather and how it works. Get on that, scientists! Jeez.
- A third-grade girl has been suspended from Highland Park Elementary School in Upper Darby, and may be expelled, apparently because she thought the authentic-looking replica of a German Luger that she'd brought with her to school on Monday was a real gun. She found it in a box in her family's attic and brought it with her to protect herself because her brother wasn't going to be able to walk her home that day.
- Mayor Street broke ground for an archaeological dig at 6th and Market on Independence Mall yesterday, on the future site of a memorial to the house shared by Presidents George Washington and John Adams. It's the start of an investigation into the past of the city and the nation, and a look back at slavery. We'll be able to watch the dig, either from a stage at the site itself, or on the internet, once the web cam is installed.
- The State House passed that bill that will give Philly the power to pass its own campaign finance laws. Next it'll go to the State Senate.
- There's not much new in this article about Brady's court battle to preserve his spot on the ballot, but we do enjoy all the bitching and sniping documented between candidates and spokespeople.
