Waterfront Inspiration

waterfront%201.jpgTomorrow afternoon from 3pm to 6pm there's going to be an unveiling of sorts down at the Independence Seaport Museum on Penn's Landing. This is no ordinary unveiling, though. It will be the first public presenation of the Central Delaware Waterfront Planning Process' (whew, we could barely say that out loud) ideas for revamping the riverfront.

It is not a stretch to say that our stretch of the Delaware River is one of the city's many public faces, and if my face looked like that face, I'd get something done about it, too. A structural A-Team of sorts, which includes both local and foreign architects and planners, was assembled this week to survey the disrepair that years of poor development decisions and sheer neglect have inflicted upon the city's waterfront.

Tomorrow's event was organized by PennPraxis and their PlanPhilly group. It is only part of a broader vision to revitalize the uglier parts of an often beautiful city.

You can go here to register for the event. Stick around, too, because a reception follows, and that usually means some free eats. Nothing makes rejuvinating your city more difficult than being hungry!
