Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

  • We were kind of hoping they wouldn't make Harrison Ford do too many ridiculous stunts in the next Indy movie, but he at least seems to think they're going to put him through his paces; he's supposedly working out on treadmills for three hours a day and has switched to a high protein diet just to get ready for the filming.
  • A bunch of famous actors and comedians are getting together to make a movie composed of ten mini-stories, each based on one of the Ten Commandments. So, sort of a comedy Decalogue? Maybe. Anyway, here's the trailer. There is some near nudity and one bad word spoken, so keep that in mind if you're watching at work.
  • While we're talking trailers, here's the latest TV spot for FF2:RotSS. Go Galactus!!!
  • On September 14th of this year, Jason Statham and Jet Li will fight on the big screen. That's hot.
  • Woo hoo! Looks like we're safe from getting sued over stuff you guys say in the comments. So comment away, you crazy readers, you! (Via big boss Jake)
  • The bunnies' medley of re-enacted scenes from James Bond movies is done, and it is pure brilliance. Love those bunnies! That's not the only good news for bunnies fans, either; they've also released a list of their upcoming projects, which you can see here. Personally, we can't wait to see Die Hard and Kill Bill. It'll also be pretty interesting to see how they pull off March of the Penguins...
  • They're remaking Scanners! The director will be Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), and the writer David Goyer (Batman Begins). We've always thought the original film was a bit flawed, but had a great concept, so a remake might actually work...

More after the jump...

  • The Get Smart movie looks to be on track to actually happen, with Alan Arkin as the chief of CONTROL, Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. We never really got the show, but this sounds like pretty decent casting.
  • Marvel announced their slate of upcoming projects at the NYCC, and Sci Fi Wire has the dirt. New Avengers/Transformers crossover?! Woah.
  • Sci Fi Wire has some movie release dates for us. Sunshine has been pushed back to the fall, sadly. Also, apparently they made a remake/re-adaptation of The Devil and Daniel Webster, starring Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins, some years back, and now they're finally going to release it on May 18th - with a new title: Shortcut to Happiness. Uh, the original title was way better.
  • Okay, we'll give them "It's Too Goddamn Expensive," at least as far as the PS3 is concerned, and "You Can't Find One," because we had a hard time finding our Wii, and we know a lot of other people did, too. But pretty much all the other reasons on this list of Top Ten Reasons New Game Consoles Suck are totally off-base. (Via)
  • Pretty cool video of the original Duck Hunt toy created by Nintendo in 1976. It came with a really sweet rifle beam gun!
  • Rumor is that Matt Damon will play Kirk, Adrien Brody will play Spock, and Gary Sinise will play Bones in the new Star Trek prequel. You know what, we really like that casting! We hope this rumor is true. And if not, the rumor creator should be hired as a casting director.
  • We posted links to one or two episodes of this Chad Vader YouTube show, so we're pleased (and envious) that the thing has become a smash hit and the guys behind it have quit their day jobs and are getting all kinds of offers and deals and stuff.
