Tomorrow night, The Slip, New England's quickest-rising stars (not named Matsuzaka), are hitting Philly for a headlining show at World Cafe Live. If you're a fan of bands like Umphreys McGee, you'll be blown away by these three dudes.
Last time through the area, they opened for My Morning Jacket and didn't really get a chance, in a six-song set, to prove why they've been voted Boston's best live band. Phillyist has been sold on these dudes for years, and the rest of the media (Rolling Stone, the New York Times, Conan O'Brien) is getting on the bandwagon. It's okay, guys: there's plenty of room. Hop on board.
Seriously though, these guys have been playing together since high school and have a well-honed repertoire of songs ranging from shorter pop musings to epic, twenty-minute jam rock experiments. We've never seen a band as quietly powerful as these guys; if you bought their most recent, Eisenhower (and enjoyed it), check them out live. It's addictive in the way live music should be.
If you're still in the dark about these dudes, check out their MySpace page to hear some stuff from their most recent album. Like we said though, they're immeasurably better live. If you see Phillyist there, make sure to say hi.
Tickets are still up for the show, but updated ticket information and show times can be found on the World Cafe Live website.

hey all, it's Ben from Arizona- just wanted to say this is going to be one hell of a show. The Slip is probably the best live band of our generation and they are a huge inspiration to our band. Philly is also one of our absolute favorite cities to play in, so we hope to contribute to what is sure to be an amazing event. I'm also stoked for Earl Greyhound because our bassist's dad's name is Earl and he has a greyhound.
