
- There could be more problems for those Philly casinos than just a ballot question: one of the companies that won a license here was also pursuing a site in Atlantic City, a big no-no as far as Pennsylvania officials are concerned.
- Why were the roads in Philly such a mess these past few days? The forecast called for more ice than snow, so the plows didn't get started until late.
- On Wednesday, Mayor Street gave one of his last big speeches as mayor at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's annual mayor's luncheon. The event was basically a big love fest, with Street touting his accomplishments, and the business leaders there giving him a nice valentine.
- Councilman Jim Kenney is giving up - at least until after the May 15 primary - on his attempts to increase or discard the campaign contribution limits. Meanwhile, it sounds like Brady didn't need any help; the Daily News is reporting that he's made use of a loophole "to take union contributions that exceed the city's $20,000 ceiling on donations." The Committee of Seventy suspects Fattah of vaguely similar shenanigans.
- The plans for the condominium tower formerly known as the Barnes Tower have been altered a bit, and now the developers and residents of the neighborhood have reached "a formal agreement that will let construction begin this year on a 35-story luxury tower at 22d and Spring Garden Streets."
