What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.

scifi02-05-07.jpgAntiques Roadshow (Mon; 8PM-9PM; PBS [WHYY]) - The final part of this show's three episode visit to Philly. This time they look at some paintings by John F. Kensett, a diamond ring, and some autographed baseballs. They also take a side trip to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Digging for the Truth (Mon; 9PM-10PM; History Channel) - Appropriately enough, given the fact that the King Tut exhibit just opened in Philly, this week's episode of this show that investigates the mysteries of the past is taking a look at questions surrounding the life and death of King Tut - in particular, whether he was murdered.

Lost & Lost Survivor Guide (Wed; 9PM-11PM; ABC) - It's finally back! From 9 to 10, you can watch a special that will catch you up on what's been going on, then from 10 to 11 the third season at long last picks up where it left off, with Jack negotiating an escape by holding the life of Ben hostage on the operating table. Meanwhile, we get to see more about the past life of one of the Others: Juliet.

The Sci Fi Boys (Wed; 11PM-1AM; Sci Fi) - A documenary about the trailblazers of visual effects in science fiction movies and the influence they've had on the genre. People talked about and/or interviewed include Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Dennis Muren, Rick Baker, Ray Harryhausen, Ray Bradbury, Roger Corman, and Forrest Ackerman. Wow! Can't wait to check this out.

Futurecar (Wed; 8PM-9PM; Discovery Channel) - The debut of this four-part series seems pretty timely to us, given that the Philly Auto Show is going down this week. As one might expect, it takes a look at current trends in automotive technology in an attempt to give us a glimpse of what the car of the future will look like. This episode focuses in particular on extreme designs.

All-Star Chocolate (Wed; 9PM-10PM; Food Network) - Just when you thought you were going to start to really get out of those winter doldrums and get back on your diet, Food Network goes and has chocolate week. This special has all of their big stars (Tyler Florence, Giada De Laurentiis, Paula Deen, Nigella Lawson, Rachael Ray, and Ina Garten) sharing recipes involving chocolate. Damn them!! We suspect it will be necessary to have some form of candy on hand to even get through this thing.

Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud (Sat; 9PM-11PM; Sci-Fi) - Yes, the latest entry in the Pumpkinhead horror movie franchise is a TV movie made by the Sci-Fi Channel. Ouch. On the bright side, it does feature Lance Henriksen reprising his role as Ed Harley. This time the vengeful Pumpkinhead "is summoned to end a long-running feud between two hill families." Yee haw!

Masterpiece Theatre: Dracula (Sun; 9PM-10:30PM; WHYY) - This sounds like a particularly odd and intriguing adapation of the seminal vampire story, as it apparently involves a British noble calling upon the Count to come to England to cure his syphillis, so he won't pass it on to his fiance, Lucy. An added attraction is that Dr. Van Helsing is played by David Suchet.
