It's First Friday—also known to us as the most wonderful time of the month. Public drunkenness is never more fun—or acceptable—in Old City. (Even on Saturday nights. Seriously.)
Phillyist will be hitting up three First Friday events in particular, and we wanted to tell you about them, too.
First up is the uwishunuyear party, at FUEL (3rd and Arch—the old Real World house) hosted by uwishunu, the "new kid on the blog," run (slightly covertly) by the GPTMC. We were at the uwishunu launch party last First Friday, and had an absolute blast. We spent the whole evening at the party and missed the rest of First Friday! As an added bonus, John Street is supposed to make a very special announcement earlier in the afternoon at FUEL, so the uwishunu folks will probably be celebrating extra hard.
Next up is an event that we're pretty excited about (maybe because we have a story about Molly Crabapple that's not worth repeating here): Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School will be in Old City's Trinity Gallery (158 North 3rd Street) on a book tour, complete with art exhibition, burlesque dancing girls, and lots of alcohol. That's one of our favorite combinations.
Lastly, Tony (47 North 3rd Street) will be celebrating Elvis Presley's birthday tomorrow night. They're promising birthday cake, and you can definitely expect plenty of cheesy Elvis movies in the background. The only thing you'll have to do is be prepared to answer all the people who ask you whether you prefer "young Elvis or fat Elvis." It's a small price to pay.
