The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- Do you like us? Do you really like us? Then why not vote for us at the Seventh Annual Weblog Awards, AKA the 2007 Bloggies? Oh, and we guess you could vote for some of your other favorite blogs, too, while you're at it. (Via Torontoist David)
- Even Apropos of Something is not immune to the "2006 summed up via a variety of lists" post. But Jess spices things up with fun bits like "My Top Five Embarassing Downloads of 2006."
- The trailer for the Hellboy animated movie is actually kind of...dull and disappointing. But then again, we were disappointed by the live-action Hellboy movie, too, so maybe we're just crazy. (Via)
- The Movie Blog has stopped looking back and started looking forward with their list of the Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2007. We find ourselves agreeing with pretty much all their choices, too.
- So, there's a fantasy adventure film based on a Neil Gaiman novel coming out on July 27th that stars Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and now also the voice of Ian McKellan as the narrator. Um...how had we not heard of this before?? Sounds awesome. (Via)
- Another item for the "we can't believe we missed this" file: apparently Wired ran a "2006: The Year in Games" article back on December 28th. We're only just getting to it now, but it's still a fun list, and this time our favorite got the top spot.
More after the jump...
- For some odd reason, they chose George Lucas as the Grand Marshal of this year's Rose Parade, so naturally there were tons of Star Wars-related floats and marchers, including the largest gathering of storm troopers ever. There's a video of it all on YouTube, of course, but beware of the usual mind-meltingly vapid narration provided by the parade commentators; we suggest muting the audio. (Via)
- Meanwhile, speaking of Lucas, he, Spielberg, and Harrison Ford have apparently finally, at long last, gotten their schedules worked out and agreed on a script, and production on the fourth Indiana Jones film will begin this June, with a possible release date of May 2008. Woo hoo!!! Yes, that's right, Spielberg will direct and Ford will star. Sure, they're all getting a bit old for this, and Lucas has betrayed us numerous times in the past, but...we still can't help getting pretty damn excited. Indy 4, people!!
- Hollywood complains of films "bombing" when they only make 30 million dollars on their first weekend. But indie movie Zyzzyx Road was released to one theater last year and made only 30 dollars in its entire run. Now that's bombing.
- A Doctor Who sonic screwdriver?! Sure, all it really does is shine a little blue light out one end, but...we wants it, precious!!
- This brilliant New Year's art prank in NYC (which Gothamist probably already talked about while we weren't looking) involved placing stuffed leather gloves on sewer grates in reference to the end of The Third Man. We're a sucker for any kind of reference to The Third Man, so we love it.
- You need a calendar for 2007, don't you? And you need to feed your insatiable lust for softcore porn, too - c'mon, admit it! Table of Malcontents is helping you slake both horrible thirsts at once with links to Pin-Ups for Pups (featuring half-naked girls fondling cute little puppies; via), and the Bathing Beauties of Sci-Fi Calendar (this one's even free! Via).
- One exciting yearly event that you may have forgotten about was not overlooked by the sharp-eyed folks at Table of Malcontents: Merriam-Webster's 2006 update to their dictionary, featuring nearly 100 new words!! Included are favorites like "supersize," "drama queen," "big box," "polyamory," "ringtone," and "sandwich generation." Mmmm...sandwich... (Via)
