Pizza Review: Rizzo's Pizzeria and Restaurant

Rizzo’s is a family-run Italian restaurant and pizza parlor which has been a fixture in suburban Glenside since 1946. Just about a twenty minute train ride away from downtown Philadelphia and a short distance from the Keswick theatre, Rizzo's has some of the best pizza in the area and is well worth the trip.

Rizzo’s doesn't do slices, just whole pizzas, but they do have smaller-sized pizzas. They have both Neapolitan and Sicilian pies, with the Sicilian pies being round and not square as per the norm.

The sauce has a wonderful hint of sweetness and tastes homemade. The crust is excellent and flavorful - on the Neapolitan it's crispy, and the Sicilian is crisp on the bottom and not doughy. The cheese is applied in almost perfect proportions and doesn’t have that dreaded processed taste.

Over several visits, the reasonably-priced pizza never disappointed, and neither did the typical Italian pasta dishes. Several specials are offered, including some all you can eat ones for both pizza and pasta. Since the food is so good, all you can eat can turn out to be more than you thought.
