Dear Readers:
We regret to inform you that Phillyist co-editor Star C. Foster passed away this morning. Star had been complaining of a pain in her foot, which she thought had to do with some bad moves she'd made at dancing class, but it turns out there was a tumor in her leg which matastasized and went to her heart. She had a seizure this morning, her boyfriend Mike called for an ambulance, she had another seizure on the way to the hospital, and then died of a pulmonary embolism.
Phillyist will be going on hiatus for the next few days, out of respect for Star and the massive impact she made on the site. Star was with Phillyist from day one, and we can't convey to you how much we will all miss her.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Star's loved ones. Please send a few of yours her way, too.
Thanks for all your love and support,

What shocking, awful news. Was there a charity Star was particularly fond of? I'd love to make a donation in her name.
What terrible, awful news. Thanks for all your help while I was with Phillyist, Star, and to the rest of you, you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

"Chaos treads the halls of Bedlam; her work is evident everywhere..."
Star was one of my first and most memorable real life connections from the online world. Her charm was as infectious in real life as it was in her web presence.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who feels the pain of her absence tonight.

i was so sad to hear about this, and i'm so sorry for your loss.
Star really looks like she lit up every room she walked in to.
Best wishes to her friends and family.
It's sometimes sad that people don't really know how much they are appreciated until after they're gone, but Star is honoured by the stories she leaves. I didn't know her, but I read through her archive and her other sites, and I am saddened by the loss of such an enthusiastic, charming voice who truly cared about adding something positive to the lives of her readership. My thoughts are with those she leaves behind, who will hopefully be comforted by the memories she left.

She'll really be missed.
i worked with star at a previous employer a few years back. i too remember her kind heart and that she was always fun to be around. my thoughts and prayyers go out to her family, friends and boyfriend.
Although she was thousands of miles away she made my morning coffee break here in Sydney each day. I will miss her input in this work a day world. My thoughts to her family and friends.

I only knew Star via email and her work but I'm saddened by this news. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.
I was absolutely shell-shocked by the news of Star's passing and I will truly miss her. Star had the uncanny ability to make anyone smile and that is how I always think of her. She didn't have to do anything or say anything. It was infectious -- just by the mere act of seeing her it could really brighten your day. The world has truly lost one its bright stars and it breaks my heart to think that she is gone.
Shocked indeed. A good person has left us
My prayers are with her family.
I'm afraid I didn't know her myself, but I recently played through 'Slouching Toward Bedlam', and it honestly saddens me that I'll never be able to thank her for that myself. I'll be sure never to forget it though, and I wish the family well at this time and what lies ahead for them all.
I was a semi-regular reader of Sarcasmo's Corner and am shocked and saddened to read this. I hadn't visited that site in a few days, and had to click through a few sites before I reached this one to learn what had happened. :( She will definitely be missed, and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
