I See Weird People: How Are Her Organs? Still Intact?

This past Sunday, I was at the Museum of Anthropology at Penn for a show that I’m stage managing. For the most part, this requires me to sit on the side of our “stage” (the Lower Egypt exhibit) and wait for one of the actresses to need me to change her shoes. Since the performance happens during regular museum hours, lots of people wander through during the show, sometimes careful not to step on me. Most of the people either don’t talk or are whispering so quietly they can’t hear themselves. But one of the couples who wandered in on Sunday certainly had no qualms with talking at full volume. And, for the amusement they provided me, I thank them:

Guy: So my friend moved to California, and she likes to call me all the time from concerts, yell “OH MY GOD, best concert EVER” and hold up the phone. But, of course, I can’t actually hear anything when she does that, so I just hang up.

Girl: Um, yeah?

Guy: Yeah, so one day, she called me and was like “Guess who I hooked up with last night?” And I was like “Uh, what the hell?” So she said “It’s someone famous!” And I couldn’t guess, because, you know, there are a lot of famous people in California.

Girl: So did she ever tell you who it was?

Guy: Yup.

Girl: And?

Guy: Ron Jeremy.
