ABC 6’s Action News #1 yet again, CBS 3 getting stronger

As expected the awful, retro-themed, over-sensational Action News on ABC 6 has dominated the November sweeps ratings once again. So we look at the real horse race for number two instead of theorizing why ABC 6 is constantly first in the ratings. (Subliminal messages in the music? The mesmerizing quality of Jim Gardner’s wig?)
TV Spy reports that in the 11 p.m. race for second, CBS 3 has a 7.7 rating/14 share while NBC 10 has a 7 rating/13 share. The 6 p.m. newscasts have the stations both tied at 4.4 rating/8 share. The two stations don’t go head to head with news at 5 p.m., but at 4 p.m. CBS 3 has a 2.9 rating/7 share with NBC 10 having a 2.7 rating/7 share.
Fox 29 Shifting
When Fox 29’s much anticipated 5 p.m. newscast debuts on January 22nd, Kerri-Lee Halkett will be at the helm solo. Halkett has been subbing at 10 p.m. for Dawn Stensland who is out on maternity leave after having her second child with husband, CBS 3 anchor Larry Mendte.
Sharon Crowley will be replacing Halkett on Good Day Philadelphia once everything normalizes at the station.
Author, Author
Did you know that Good Day Philadelphia co-anchor Scott Engler is an author? Engler is the author of The Ten Secrets: A Short Tale of Redemption, which is a short novel about self discovery and reflection.
Brain Dead
CBS has canceled the brain surgeon drama 3 Lbs. after just three episodes. The show replaced Smith, which had equally dismal numbers.
Wake Up in the Ratings
CW 57’s morning news/traffic show has almost doubled its viewers since last year when it had a .4 of a rating/2 share. The newscast improved to a 1 rating/4 share, not as good as the competition, but a marked improvement.
From the Vault: Infomercials
Last Friday was, in theory, the last time NBC 10 would be showing their Out of the Vault show at noon, since that timeslot is being given over to NBC’s iVillagelive starting Monday. However, instead of some classic NBC 10 program we got an infomercial for Bobby Rydell's Malt Shop Memories.
