- Army v. Navy at the Linc this Saturday! Exciting.
- Low-income families in the region are being offered cheap oil for the second year in a row, thanks to Rep. Chaka Fattah, Citgo, and Venezuela. To apply, call Citizens Energy Corp. at 1-877-JOE-4-OIL.
- This story isn't actually Philly-related - it went down in Horsham, PA - but it's sort of local, and it's so odd and tragic and even vaguely funny, we just had to mention it. A man was so distraught over breaking up with his girlfriend Monday night that he decided to try to kill himself - by crashing his car repeatedly into the equipment at a playground. As far as we can tell from the brief article, no one was injured (the man eventually gave up when he couldn't restart his car), but the playground will be closed until at least the spring while they try to fix the tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage that was done to it. D'oh.
- Sounds like we could see twin towers on the Delaware, but also height restrictions (125 feet; about 12 stories) on buildings from the Parkway to the Schuylkill.
- Does Bob Brady plan to run for Mayor? That's what some folks are saying.
- Despite the criticism and calls for boycotts that its sale has generated, Urban Outfitters' glittering, gun-shaped Christmas ornament is apparently so popular that it sold out.
- A body found on the banks of the Delaware River has turned out to be that of the teen who jumped off the Walt Whitman Bridge after being chased by police chase last month.
- The largest union at the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News has promised that even if they do strike, we won't be deprived of our online news fix. In that case, they'll launch a site at PhilaPapers.com which will compete with Philly.com. Wow! These folks sure are prepared.
- Mayor Street is fighting school truancy by threatening the parents with jail! He's ordered all chronically truant students and their parents to show up at the Liacouras Center tonight at 5, or else. Ouch!
