Ladies, Be Careful Out There!

pepper-sprays.jpg

When this Phillyist moved from her West Philly rowhome apartment to her current Center City digs, the one thing she told everyone was that she felt a lot safer walking home alone at night. No longer. According to 6abc.com:

The hunt is on for a Center City rapist who has already robbed and sexually assaulted at least four women.

The attacks have all happened in or around Center City. Four women robbed at gunpoint and then sexually assaulted(...)

Police say the man engaged in conversation with a couple of [his victims], and in the other cases he walked right up and pointed the gun. They're afraid he might start using it(...)

Police say the suspect is a middle aged black man with deep-set eyes and a light complexion. He's about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10. He was wearing a dark jacket and was armed with a black handgun.

Police say he's dangerous and they're warning women to be extra cautious, especially after dark.

This Phillyist is buying her first-ever can of pepper spray tonight; her Texas handgun permit probably isn't valid here.

It should be easy to get a gun in Pennsylvania if you listen to the corrupt mayor and his lackeys.

I bought a "Whoopass" brand pepper spray for about $11.00- the security supplies store owner specifically recommended that brand and it's what he bought for his own daughter. It never loses its pressure and the liquid contains an ultraviolet spray which sticks to the skin invisibly for three days, aming it easier for the police to identify criminals. The canister is tiny but full of pain--it will completely incapacitate a full-grown man for about an hour.
