- Some bad news - particularly in light of the cold weather and the pending food-enriched holiday season - our local food banks are low on supplies and volunteers. If you're looking for a way to give back to the community, helping them out could be one way to do it.
- Former Eagle Andre Waters has died - the victim of suicide.
- Nate Wiley, saxophonist at Bob & Barbara's, has passed away following a recent stroke. (via)
- Oliver Neal, picked up for drug possession, somehow managed to produce a gun and shoot himself in the back of the head while sitting, alone, in the back of a police vehicle.
- A young man was shot three times in the back (by parties unknown) in the Wissanoming part of town.
And in slightly less depressing news...
- Richard Powell's The Philadelphian - known to many of us only in its cinematic form, The Young Philadelphians (the book's been out of print for ages) - is being re-released in a 50th anniversary edition.
- City Magazine has partnered with Capogiro to offer readers a chance to design and win their own custom pint of gelato. Seems like a chilly time of year to be conferring over frozen confections, but we're a sucker for the gelato at Capogiro, so we might give it a whirl.
