Plain Parade Final Shows

Plain Parade (MySpace page here) is Philly's own little rock booking agency, run by the dynamic duo of Maria Tessa Sciarrino and Sara Sherr, who have been putting together intimate Philly shows of up-and-coming indie rock bands, both local and international, since 2002. Sadly, they've decided to close up shop, and their last two shows will be this Friday and Saturday nights. Why not head out to give them a proper good-bye, and, of course, support the bands? Friday's show is at Tritone and features provocative noise rock band Clockcleaner, no-wave guitar act Notekillers, and local garage rock five-piece Ken, who are out behind their brand new, and first, album.

Speaking of local bands with new albums, Saturday's show at the M Room is Dragon City's record release party (they hurried to finish it up in time for the final Plain Parade show). Their previous release was a quasi-concept EP called All About Rabbits, which starts with the sound of carrots crunching. If that weren't cool enough, Dragon City is known for playing epic-length songs, and a killer cover of Sonic Youth's "Kotton Krown" (a particularly good Youth track). Also on the bill with DC is jazz rock act Artanker Convoy and an indie rock band with former members of Polvo, so how can you possibly say no to this show?

Plain Parade did a lot for the indie music community in Philly - both artists and listeners. Now let's send them off in style.
