And Now...A New Car!

newcars11-06-06.jpgHey, remember The Cars? They were great, weren't they? Seriously, who doesn't love The Cars? We have a friend who had three roommates in college, and they each had completely different musical taste and couldn't agree on any band - except The Cars. That band just churned out entertaining pop rock/New Wave hit after entertaining pop rock/New Wave hit.

Well, there's no need to wistfully mourn they're passing, because they're back, in the form of The New Cars! The band consists of two of the original members (Elliot Easton on guitar and Greg Hawkes on keyboards), plus a new bassist and drummer, and Todd Rundgren as the new lead singer. Stylistically, they've picked up pretty much right where The Cars left off; their new songs fit right in with the classic old material, and they play examples of both live.

Sound like fun to you? Well, why don't you go see them for free, on us! Yep, it's another giveaway, and this time we'll have two winners. Each winner, plus a guest, will be going to The New Cars show at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe this Friday, November 10th. You'll also be getting an autographed copy of their new CD! And all you have to do is fill out the form below some time before the end of the day on Thursday, November 9th. So get to it, folks!

Oh, and btw, if you don't win, don't give up all hope. Check back here in a week or so for another giveaway for the next area show...

I'm glad they went with "The New Cars" as a band name. Some might think it's unoriginal, but it's cool with me. Also, Todd Rundgren as lead singer? I'm interested to hear how this project turns out.

Rick Ocasek too busy doing cameos on The Colbert Report? (Seriously, go to that link.)

Vis Major: It's kind of crazy, isn't it? But then, for some reason when I first heard about The New Cars, I thought that Ted Nugent was their lead singer, and that would have been a lot crazier.

Jill: That link is AWESOME. I always suspected Ric Ocasek was a mighty immortal sorceror...
