Today, Thrillist directed us toward Neighboroo which, despite its silly name, is a very, very cool new website that goes along nicely with our recent population milestone. You can look at a map of the whole US, or zoom in on a specific region or city. Phillyist didn't find many things we didn't already know on the map. Our taxes are ridiculous, our air is bad, our crime rate is inexcusably high, and our schools could certainly afford to be better. By a lot.
But there were a few things that surprised us on the list. We're actually more densely populated than New York City and safer than Washington, D.C. And while our average annual household income seems awfully low at $27,000, we still beat out -ist cities Los Angeles (must be all the starving actors) and Seattle (must be all the starving dot-commers). And hey, good news for our resident dater! It looks like Philly is a city of financially comfortable young single people. Do we sense "Love in the Time Of... Government Censuses"?
