- Remember a few weeks back when the news was that the rate of violent crime in the city seemed to be abating? Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. A 19 year-old was shot and killed in South Philly early Thursday morning, and a 92 year-old man was stabbed to death in his NE Philly apartment on Wednesday.
-Meanwhile, Mayor Street has pledged more curfew centers. This may have helped the young man who was so viciously shot on the street in South Philadelphia, but it wouldn't have helped the NE Philly victim. Clearly more needs to be done.
- As former 76ers co-owner, Pat Croce, went on to become an entertainer (sort of - his face was certainly everywhere for a while there), it only makes sense that an entertainer may now be part of the impending purchase of the 76ers. In this case - actor/rapper/Fresh Prince of Bel Aire Will Smith may be among the investors joining Dr. J in purchasing the team.
-Got some extra cash? If you're feeling generous, the Philadelphia Education Fund would probably be happy to take it. A donor has promised them a donation of $1 million dollars...contingent upon their raising an additional $2 million on their own, first.
