
- The zoo is getting rid of its elephants, and now the Academy of Natural Sciences is selling its minerals and gems - although admittedly, just a bunch that haven't been cleaned or displayed in decades. Ironically, the announcement came Sunday, the same time that the annual convention of geologists was visiting the city.
- Hey, Dr. J might buy the Sixers! Or, to be more accurate, he's the leader of a group of folks who are thinking of purchasing the team, according to a Daily News source.
- We told you recently about a rise in injuries and fatal accidents along Roosevelt Boulevard; well, don't worry about it, because some City Council members have called for the public safety and streets and services committees to hold joint public hearings. Yeah, that'll take care of it.
- An Inquirer article about the deaths of 20 children whose cases were known to the city's Department of Human Services appears to have prompted the Mayor to oust the two top officials at the DHS. The ouster prompted protests and demonstrations.
