Friday
Sadly, tonight’s Emerson String Quartet concert at the Kimmel center is sold out, but if you can leave work early today, try to catch their free master class up at Temple University.

Saturday
Any Coltrane fans out there might want to check out the International House’s first Seraphic Light concert of the season. Celebrate John Coltrane’s 80th birthday at the world premiere performance of the Philadelphia Four (Dave Burrell, piano; Reggie Workman, bass; Muhammad Ali, drums; Rashied Ali, drums).

Sunday
LyricFest, a local organization dedicated to song recitals, continues their tradition of fascinating and interactive programs. Their first concert of the season, Home and the Immigrant Soul, will explore “the spirit of home with an eye toward immigrant composers,” including Rachmaninoff, Britten, Dvorak, Brahms, and more.
First Presbyterian Church, 21st and Walnut; 3:00 PM; $15

The Orchestra Underground has “stretched the definition of the symphony orchestra through non-traditional instrumentation and spatial orientations, technological innovation, and multidisciplinary collaborations.” Their latest program, Composers Outfront, will feature pieces by Ives and more with a multimedia twist.
