Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

  • C'mon, you know you've always wondered: how the heck did dinosaurs have sex? In this Cosmos magazine article, a bunch of scientists discuss the likely positions they might have used, and what their reproductive organs might have looked like. Tee hee. (Via)
  • Chris Kohler sure knows how to make us jealous. Now he's got photos and a description of what appears to be just about the coolest arcade in the world.
  • A new book by J. R. R. Tolkien is coming out next spring. Well, sort of. Really, it's just another unfinished tale that his son, Christopher Tolkien, has edited and augmented into some semblance of a complete work. It's called The Children of Hurin, it involves characters from Lord of the Rings, and bits of it have actually been published before. We remember Hurin from The Silmarillion (but then again, who doesn't, right? Right?!), but we're not sure if this particular story was in there or not. Anyway, we might have to check it out, being the Tolkien freaks we are. (Via)
  • Clive Owen plays a loner with a tragic past who, with the help of a prostitute who specializes in lactation fantasies (Monica Bellucci), must protect a baby from Paul Giamatti and bring down an evil government plot via lots and lots of crazy gunplay in Shoot 'Em Up, a film that is an homage to works of the same sort by Sergio Leone and John Woo. Sounds pretty cool to us, and if you're quick and the Man doesn't get there first and force them to take it down, you can check out this promo reel for the film that supposedly came out of the Cannes Film Festival. (Via)
  • The Wii already pre-sold-out on Amazon.com. Well, sort of. They were just getting so many pre-orders they decided to stop accepting any more, because they didn't know how many units they'd be getting and didn't want to oversell.
  • Here's a helpful GamePro article wherein every new iPod game is reviewed and - perhaps more importantly - their controls are described. We are totally on the same page as Joystiq (the source of this link) when they say the following: "We're looking forward most to new games developed for the wheel, rather than old ones that try to graft their controls on the iPod." The click wheel can be a very awkward controller for certain games, but if the game is designed to work with it, you could put together something pretty exciting.

They are reproductive organs? whoa.

That's one cool deinosaur.

Heh. Oops. Little typo there. I'll fix.

Hahah! Hi, I wondered why that picture had more hits than the others. Glad you like it, and thanks for the credit.

Onlymayday: You're welcome! Thanks for taking the photo and giving me a good image to put up with this post! :)
