If there's a non-issue out there, chances are good there's an internet poll related to it as well. To wit, via Gawker we discovered that Philadelphia is a contender is in Gridskipper's World's Sexiest City poll. Not for "Sexiest" city mind you. Nor do we rate as particularly Masculine; Feminine; Gay, Lesbian or Fetish Friendly. Although we apparently lurve our straight people...as we are on deck for "World's Most Hetero Friendly City" - a designation Gridskipper kindly specifies meaning a city with "tons of straight sex not just anti-gay." Well thank heavens were not just anti-gay. We'd hate to think the world thought of us as one dimensional. (This is one time we're not sure it's an honor to be nominated.)
Nominations are closed until next year (although voting is open until the 18th), which means we have a year to shed our internationally shared milquetoast sexual identity. Maybe it's time to make Love park live up to its name?

A former Philly resident now living in from DC which looks poised to win the World's Most Hetero City category, I'm not sure what people were thinking when they nominated either city! I can't help but wonder if these stats will show up on brochures handed out around DC at some point in the future.
