A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

- Let's begin by stating this inarguable fact: Chad Vangaalen rocks. He does DIY creepy-cool indie rock, and by DIY we mean he records the songs himself, makes some of the instruments himself, and also animates his own videos, like this one for the song "Flower Gardens." The song's not as pleasantly creepy and chilling as the stuff off his previous album, Infiniheart, but it still totally rocks. The cartoon's cool, too. Talk about multi-talented! (Via)
- We've been trying to think of a way to work in a link to XPN's All About the Music Blog, and now they've given us an excellent opportunity by providing a free download of a track off of The Decemberists' upcoming album, The Crane Wife. The song's called "Summersong," and we plan to pull it down and rock it out first chance we get. (Btw, also look out for a totally cool daily feature of the AAtMB, the Philly Local Pick of the Day.)
- Check out one illustrator's rather literal take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: here's Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo and Donatello. This Phillyist's favorite turtle has always been Leonardo, and that holds true here. The illustrator, Penguinx (Ray Frenden), says he just might do versions of Splinter and a baddie or two, so we're subscribing to the rss feed for this one and keeping our eyes peeled.
More after the jump...
- Google is going to be giving away free novels! Good on you, Google! The books will be classics that are now out of copyright, and will be available as free pdf downloads.
- Flickr has a new feature called geotagging, which lets you tag your photos with the location they were taken at. In the first day the feature was available, 1.2 million photos were geotagged. Crazy! We hope a good number of those were tagged with Philadelphia...
- Dude mixed together the theme songs from "The Simpsons" and the original "Star Trek." Genius! Even better, a theremin is featured. (Via)
