Frugal Fun Alert: Weekend

Fun around town, for $10 or less:

Friday

Acoustic Philly: An evening of acoustic music (and puppets) from a variety of acts, courtesy of Acoustic Philly at The Rotunda (4014 Walnut Street). 7:30 PM - 1AM. $5

bowerbird presents: Normal Love, Snacks & Drums Like Machineguns, Clown Food & Mincemeat or Tenspeed at Lava (4134 Lancaster Ave) 8PM. $5

Kill Your Idols: Robert Drake is hosting a free midnight screening of the coming-soon-to-DVD post-punk documentary, Kill Your Idols at The World Cafe (3025 Walnut Street).

Improv with the N Crowd: The N Crowd performs at The Actor's Center (257 North 3rd Street) at 8PM. $10

Saturday

Rock N Roller Derby: All day blend of live music and roller derby at The New Alhambra Arena (7 Ritner Street). 3-11PM. All ages. $10

Bluebond Music School Arts & Music Festival: A day of food, vendors, kids activities and music performed by Slo-Mo, lIKE, Dave
Falcone, Melody Gardot, Ernie and Neal, and students of the Bluebond Music School from 2PM to dusk. Admission is free, and $2 will get you a chance to win a Gibson SG guitar. On the grounds of the Old Swedes Church (Columbus Blvd & Christian Street). Rain date 08/27.

Plain Parade Presents: The Rah Bras, Edie Sedgwick, The Freedom Party, Pony Pants, & Red Rocket at Danger! Danger! House (900 S. 47th Street). 9PM. $5

Street Movies! Family Night: An evening of free short films from the Scribe Video Center. Screening at The Friends Neighborhood Guild (704 W. Girard Avenue) at 7:30 PM.

Creepy Double Feature: Exhumed Films presents Four Flies on Grey Velvet & They're Coming to Get You 8PM at IHouse (3701 Chestnut Street). $10
