Yo, Philly in the News

- Our state's constitution is one step closer to defining marriage as being solely of the one man/one woman variety; a lesser version of what passed in the House has passed in our state Senate. Phillyist could go on a little scree about how offensive and ridiculous this is, but we'll let this quote from the article do the talking: 'Allowing gay marriage, [Sen. Jane C. Orie ] contended, "would open the door" for defining marriage as unions between other groups, including "fathers and daughters." ' Phillyist shudders to think how they celebrate Father's Day in Allegheny.

- Waterway status update: it's once again ok to get wet in the Schuylkill (although we don't know why you'd want to), but it's probably a good idea to keep giving Wissahickon Creek a pass.

- Bill Cosby made an appearance at a middle school graduation in Camden yesterday, bringing with him a message of self-confidence and determination to the students. One cannot help but wonder if the fact he previously refused to have his shows advertised in the local papers is why he now finds himself playing to a half-empty auditorium of middle schoolers. (We kid, we kid. Children, future, etc etc. Yay for Philanthropy. )
