A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

- Wow. You need to check out SexInChrist.com (NSFW if somebody's reading over your shoulder). It's full of handy Bible-based defenses of all your favorite sexual practices, including oral sex, threesomes (which are all good, as long as they're FFM, and you observe certain proprieties), lesbianism, masturbation ("God's Great Gift to Us" - word!), pornography, BDSM, and even fisting ("new!"). Yay! It's finally okay for Christians to have fun again! (Via)
- J. Michael Straczynski created the excellent "Babylon 5," one of the best sci fi series to grace our TVs in recent years. So he was the obvious choice to save the "Star Trek" franchise with a great new series. Therefore, of course, the people in charge ignored him and went with somebody else. However, we can at least still read his proposal (pdf) and dream of what might have been. (Via)
- With Your Mom dot Com is really pure comic genius. Every day, another "your mom" joke, complete with up-to-date pop culture reference. You better believe this baby's going on our RSS reader. (Via)

Across the Ist-a-Verse

Oh - I wish I had never clicked on that last link. There are someplaces man and Nintendo were never meant to go together.
Whiz of the Web is the only half decent content here, however it is hardly a local thing. It could be on Omahaist or Clevelandist or Trentonist since it is so damn generic. Phillyist is like the Today Show, mainly national content, but with a few local news cut ins. Feh!
-ist Off: Well, I'm glad you like Whiz of the Web, anyway. It's true that this particular post is not very local-oriented - but it is a link post, which people sort of expect from a blog. In terms of local posts, we have a local news post every day, we highlight what's in local theaters every Friday, we have a post about cheap local activities every day, we post previews for fun local events quite often, and also review local events. And we interview local celebrities, or people who are performing in the area, pretty much every week. We also occasionally talk about our favorite things to do locally, or have random single posts about local stuff going down.
So...how much more local content do you want, exactly?
I forgot to mention our weekly post rounding up all the most interesting and weird local craigslist postings. And our local sports posts. And Photoist, our weekly post of a photo of something local by a local photographer. And our weekly roundup of local theater performances. And there's probably something else I'm forgetting...
