I would have to go with the Action News theme since it so bad, out of date and quite stupid, just like a lot of things there. It is the worst peice of music ever written for anything and is so dated it is pathetic. WTF is up with Jim Gardner anyway, it is like he has a stick up his ass or something. All the smart people up and left for New Jersey, where we sing Positively New Jersey and have people pump our cheap gas!

I second the vote for the Hooters "Beat Up Guitar" Also: T.S.O.P (The Sound of Philadelphia) - MFSB (I'm tempted to include the OJay's "Back Stabbers" as well, since it's a great song from the Philly sound - but oh, the bad connotations!) Punk Rock Girl - by the Dead Milkmen Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen Summertime as covered by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Alternately: Parents Just Don't Understand. (And I am horrifed to discover that The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme has both a cover and karaoke version of available on iTunes). Sara Smile - Hall and Oates Summer in the City - The Lovin' Spoonful (not a Philly band, I know - but humid July and August days in Philly always make me think of this song.) Argh. No Tommy Conwell tracks on iTunes. (Holy cow, am I showing my age.)

I love this idea, here are acouple of suggestions: Check out "Into Philadelphia" by IKE, who will be opening for the Hooters on Friday at the Electric Factory. The song is often played before Phillies games. The song was written by frontman John Faye, formerly of the John Faye Power Trip ("Miss Catch-22", the JFPT lineup is the same as IKE) and The Caufields ("Devil's Diary"). You can hear the song on their myspace account here: Ike's My Space Ike Official Site And of course from the Hooters, "Beat Up Guitar" with the great chorus "From the Town that Rocked a Nation, Philadelphia, PA"
