Whiz of the Web: Tuesday Torpedoes

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

  • Dude wants to get Axl Rose to play his wedding this July. So naturally, he started a blog. So far he hasn't gotten a "yes," but he also hasn't gotten a "no," and he is getting responses to his letters to Axl's lawyer. Apparently he has many operatives in various locations helping him out by holding up signs at concerts and such. Good luck to you, buddy! And let's hope if Axl does show up, he doesn't come high and super late, and then take off before singing a note. There might be a riot, and nobody wants that at their wedding. (Via)
  • Apparently, when you introduce Mentos to Diet Coke, an explosive reaction occurs in the soda. That by itself would be amusing enough to watch. But the folks at Eepy Bird decided to go further with it - like, as far as recreating the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas with 200 liters of Diet Coke and over 500 Mentos. And of course there's a video! Fan-fucking-tastic. (Via)
  • Who's up for some ASCII porn? You? We thought so. Obviously not exactly SFW. (We found it via defective yeti's amusing post about his recent entrance into the present via the purchase of cable internet.)

  • A guy in Shanghai got his trousers stolen by a monkey, which in itself is pretty funny, but what really tickles us about the story (because we never really grew up) is the guy's name: Mr. Wang. Tee hee! Wang. (Via)
  • Meet the newest and bravest superhero of them all: Captain Copyright! His origin? As a kid, a bully stole the comic book he'd just drawn and sold it in the hallway, claiming the work was his own. So he vowed never again to allow anyone's work to be stolen in a similar way! Is this a joke? Apparently not! It's a new way to teach kids about the importance of copyright. There are even Captain Copyright lessons you can download if you're a teacher. We're not exactly sure how to feel about this...but we think we're going to come down on the side of it being LAME. • Sounds like the trailer for Spider-Man 3 will be playing, appropriately enough, in front of Superman Returns. Sweet!
