- Both philly and Philadelphia Will Do have some strong words for Geno's owner, Joe Vento, in reaction to his "When Ordering, Speak English" policy. Since when has "Whiz wit" been considered English?
- Someone on Craigslist is having a missed connection...with our mythical citywide wireless connection. (Aren't we all?)
- Books, Inq. points us towards news of "the world's first audio-only novel." Phillyist thought these were called "radio dramas;" or perhaps "MP3 drama" would be more apropos.
- Mule Designs, a SF t-shirt company co-founded by Philly ex-pat Mike Monteiro, sent Phillyist their "I'm not angry, I'm from Philly" tee for a try. Phillyist wore it out-of-town this weekend (it seemed the most appropriate use), and discovered the following: other Philly locals immediately wanted to know where we got it, while some non-Philly folks bravely approached us to ask what it meant. Not once, however, did we ever have to answer the questions, since someone nearby invariably piped up and explained for us. More often than not, their explanation involved The Eagles - and once, specific instructions to never wear a Cowboy's jersey to an Eagles game. (Geeze, you'd think our sports fans had a reputation or something.) Our only complaint - we're not nuts about the brown color. (Doesn't UPS own it now?) On the plus side, you can't see where we dropped our chocolate ice cream on it (first time out of the package, natch). Phillyist can't have nice things.
