Yo, Philly in the News

  • The new Kimmel Center pipe organ debuted to a sold-out crowd Thursday night. It (and/or the player, Olivier Latry) got a standing ovation or two, and the Daily News proclaims it capable of a "bone-liquefying bass roar." Awesome.
  • McNabb had his first press conference of the Eagles' first minicamp on Saturday, and it sounds like the topics he'll be grilled on this year are the same as last year: whether he's "lost the locker room," whether he can get it back, controversial statements about race, and, of course, T.O., T.O., T.O. Sigh. And here we thought we were finally done with that jackass...
  • The final details have been approved and construction will begin within weeks on Philly's city-wide wireless mesh network! The initial test area will be a 15-square-mile chunk of the center of the city. The service will be commercially available as soon as the end of August. Wow. This thing might actually become a reality, and pretty soon!
