Friday: Cole Hamels makes his major league debut with 4 2/3 scoreless innings to help the Phillies win 8-4 over the Cincinnati Reds.
Saturday: John Lieber almost throws a perfect game for a 2-0 win.
Sunday: Ryan Howard hits a home run in the 12th – after a pinch hit home run in the 8th – to complete the sweep.
Anyone else scratching their heads over this one? We are, but we’re not complaining. Why the turn around? Charlie Manuel’s rant a few weeks ago? A new clubhouse leader? We’re still betting that this had something to do with it.
Next up: an off day today, then a series with the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee.
