Philadelphia Will Do let's us know that the smoking ban may go through...sort of.

Citizen Mom has a question about rainbow vs. chocolate jimmies (and whether "rainbow jimmies" means what she thinks it means). Strangely, Phillyist was having a similar debate not too long ago. We always thought that these ice cream confections were called "jimmies" if chocolate and "sprinkles" if any other flavor...although we understand this is not only regional slang, but may vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. Can anyone clear this up once and for all?

"Jimmies" is a Philadelphia area regionalism. The proper American English term is "sprinkles."

Thanks for the shout!
Myself, I'm all about rainbow jimmies, preferably on a Kohr Bros. mixed-twist cone.

F.X.: Really? We're the only place in the whole of the country to call them "Jimmies?"

Citizen Mom: I, too, prefer rainbow sprinkles when getting sprinkles at all. (Overall, I much prefer my ice cream topped with wet walnuts)
