Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

  • Feeling run down? Not sure how much life you've got left in you? Well, if you can walk a quarter-mile, there's a pretty good chance you'll still be alive six years from now! In fact, the faster you do it, the longer you're likely to live. It's true. Science says. (Via)
  • Nerd pr0n! Yes, it's SFW, because it's just a gallery of photos of Tokyo's Akihabara section, which contains "the largest agglomeration of electronics stores in the world." That's more gadgets and geekery per square kilometer than even this Phillyist writer could handle - though he'd certainly like to try...
  • The original Superman Returns teaser trailer (which you can find here) gives us the chills every time, it's so thrilling and fantastic, but this new, full-length trailer might be even better. Kevin Spacey is just as perfect a Lex Luthor as we'd hoped. Check it out. (Via)

  • Here's a fun list: the top ten most controversial films of all time, from the new Time Out book, 1,000 Films That Change Your Life. Some of these movies will be familiar, as they are always mentioned in this context, but some we've never heard of before, and we have to admit, we've only seen three! We've got some work to do. • We're with Cinematical - the script for genius filmmaker Michel Gondry's next film (entitled Be Kind Rewind) sounds like just about the best idea for a movie ever. Jack Black plays a fellow with horrible headaches which are probably caused by the fact that his brain is magnetic (duh, of course). It's this same mutation which also causes him to erase all the tapes in his friend's video store when he walks in there one day. Luckily, the store only really has one faithful customer - a demented old lady - so Black and his buddy decide to fix the problem by personally recreating all the movies that have been erased, from Rush Hour to Lion King to Robocop. Oh, man. We can't wait to see Jack Black as a lion cub.
  • Yay! Dracula Blogged just started again! Subscribe (xml) for the classically ridiculous high melodrama that is the original vampire novel.
