Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up - Pretty Much All Video Edition

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

  • Book of Numbers is a super-cool Flash-animated website that takes the form of a book whose every page features a sort of skit, each of which is odd and silly, but also highly beautiful and amusing. We got the link from Lore Sjöberg at Table of Malcontents, who's right to compare this work to Terry Gilliam's. And we can't think of a better compliment than that. (Via)
  • Hee hee. Speaking of goofy fun that's reminiscent of Monty Python, check out this homebrewed Firefox commercial, which apparently won or got third place (it's not exactly clear from the title and description) in a contest of some kind. This Phillyist writer still hasn't been convinced to switch from IE, but that has more to do with our own laziness and inertia than anything else; anyway, we enjoyed that little dig at Microsoft at the end there. • A New Yorker who enjoys improv decided recently to perform a little...experiment at a local Best Buy. The results are pretty amusing (and are reported in exhaustive detail, via text and videos), but just the concept itself is an odd bit of genius. (Via)

  • If you're not familiar with the Pink Five series, then you've got some catching up to do. Basically the premise is, insert a Valley Girl into the original Star Wars trilogy, then step back and see what happens. Turns out, it's pretty funny! The original Pink Five is here, the sequel Pink Five Strikes Back is here, and the brand new Return of Pink Five, Vol. 1 is right here. We have to say, RoPF 1 is not as good as its predecessors, but still fun in its own way. Plus, the trailer for RoPF 2, which is included at the end, looks promising. (Via)
  • Check out this creepy-cool video of bees killing a hornet by swarming over it and vibrating until their combined body temperature is too hot for the hornet to handle. Wicked. (Via)
  • Nintendo has a couple cool videos available of the New Super Mario Bros. game that's coming out for the DS, and even more videos are forthcoming. Enjoy! (Via)
