- If you're a resident of Pennsylvania and plan on voting in the May 16 primary elections, you may be in for some fun surprises: new voting machines with which both you and the poll workers will most likely be unfamiliar!

Sixty of the state's 67 counties have acquired new voting machines to comply with federal law, but many waited until the last moment and are only now starting to train poll workers and educate voters.
Luckily, as the article points out, most people probably won't bother showing up for the primaries, which means hopefully the machines will be well tested and the workers more familiar with them by the time the general election rolls around. Let's just hope Pennsylvania doesn't become the next Florida... - If you're accustomed to buying your heroin in Kensington or Port Richmond (or possibly also Camden County), you might want to find a new dealer, as portions of the drug sold in those areas recently have been cut with the painkiller methylfentanyl, and have caused two deaths and at least six hospitalizations. The deadly heroin is sold in $10 bags stamped with the name "Fefe." This has been a "don't eat the brown acid" warning from your friends at Phillyist.
- We suppose firefighters must become accustomed to dealing with all kinds of dangers, but they probably don't expect electrocution to be one of them. Unfortunately it turned out to be for five firefighters battling a row house fire in Philly early yesterday. They suffered shocks from downed wires and ended up at the Hospital at U Penn in stable condition. As of this writing, how they came into contact with the wires, and what the original cause of the fire is, both remain a mystery.
