If you want to get down and dirty in Jersey this Thursday night, WMMR is sponsoring a Painfully Singles Mixer at Top Dog in Cherry Hill, N.J.

We spoke with Nick McIlwain of the Preston & Steve show about the mixer, the crowd and how to get on the list.

When is the event?
This Thursday at 6pm-9pm. It is our first one at WMMR in New Jersey and our third overall one in New Jersey.

How often does WMMR host Painfully Singles Mixers?
We do them every three months or so. We try to space them out that way so we get in four per year. They started off as a MILF and DILF mixer for single parents and it just kind of expanded into anybody who was single.

What kind of crowd do the Painfully Single Mixers draw?
It runs the gamut. The core makeup of people are in their 20s and early 30s, but no one under 21 since it is at a bar. We've had people in their 50s show up. I think that's part of the appeal of the event – it really is open to everybody.

And how is this different than other hook-up singles events?
Our show is behind it, and we have a pretty wide audience. Everybody from college students to moms and dads listen to the show, and the event draws from that. It's show driven, so they have a common interest. We'll all be there, too. There are five members of the show, and every one of us is married at this point. So we're not there to hook up and we're there to be matchmakers. We're there to break the ice and to serve as matchmakers and get people to loosen up and go up and say hi when normally they normally would be too shy to do so.

How do you get in?
We have an email account set up at mixer@wmmr.com. We offer invites on the air, and the email account, and we invite people from there. We try to keep it as open as possible, but it actually had moved to an invite situation because they are so popular.
