Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

  • Here's something you never knew you wanted, but we're sure you'll enjoy: an apparently complete collection of screenshots of those onomatopoetic action words from the goofy '60s "Batman" TV series. The page is not in English, but then again, the sound effects aren't really in English, either. FLRBBBBB! (Via)
  • Japanophiles like Phillyist will enjoy the beautiful illustrations of Hisashi Tenmyouya. Tenmyouya applies the style of ancient Japanese paintings to modern and fantastic subjects to create surreal and fantastic combinations. We're a particular fan of this frog samurai. (Via)
  • The world's largest video game collection? It's hard to say for sure, but after looking at all the astounding pictures at that link, we've decided it's quite large enough for Phillyist! Now, how do we get our hands on it? (Via)

  • Speaking of video games (and lots of them), check out this incredibly long and overwhelming list of all the PC games scheduled to come out this year (warning: image-heavy page). We'd tell you which ones we're interested in, but we haven't even gotten half way down the page and our eyes are already rolling back in our head. (Via)
  • Staying on the video game theme for just one more bullet point: PowerUpTees.com has a lot of fun and funny video game-themed T-shirts, like the Zaxxon, Zaxxoff shirt, and the Duck Hunt Club shirt, but Joystiq has definitely found the one that is the most wrong, and of course we must pass that on to you (warning: could be considered NSFW). Enjoy! (Via)
  • The BrainWave Generator is a Windows application, which you can download for free at the site, that claims to change your state of mind via binaural beat frequencies - in other words, sounds at certain frequencies which combine in your brain and stimulate it in a certain way. You can try creating your own beats, but there are plenty of presets that supposedly make you experience various states, including (and here we're mining a post about the thing on forevergeek) meditation, sleep, and lost time. Then there are the really weird ones, like the feeling of having had too much coffee, the feeling of getting a tooth drilled (!), sexual simulation and stimulation, and the feeling of having taken LSD. Woah. This sound a little creepy, and what with the warnings on the info page and all, we're kind of afraid to try it. But if you want to, by all means, let us know what it's like in the comments!
